Product Description
CAS No. 6419-19-8
Molecular Formula: N(CH2PO3H2)3 Molecular weight: 299.05
Structural Formula:
Properties:
ATMP is an effective chelating agent with low threshold inhibition and lattice distortion capabilities. It can prevent the build-up of scale, especially calcium carbonate, in water systems. In addition, ATMP has excellent chemical stability and is extremely difficult to hydrolyze in water. At high concentrations, it acts as a suitable inhibitor for corrosion.
ATMP is widely used in industrial circulating excellent water systems and oilfield pipelines of thermal power plants and oil refineries. Its properties allow it to prevent scale formation on metal equipment and reduce corrosion, making it highly beneficial for these industries.
The solid form of ATMP is crystal powder, soluble in water, highly deliquescent, and suitable for use in cold temperatures and freezing districts. Its high purity rating makes it perfect for use as a chelating agent in woven & dyeing industries and as a metal surface treatment agent.

Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid Uses:
Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid (ATMP) is an environmentally-friendly chelating agent in various industrial sectors. It can bind and transport metal ions more effectively than other chemical agents. ATMP is highly effective in controlling scale and corrosion in water systems, as it prevents the clogging of pipelines and heat exchangers. Furthermore, it is widely used as a detergent booster for its cleansing effect, helping to clean hard surfaces without extra scrubbing or polishing. In addition, ATMP is also used in textile and dye industries for desizing and finishing processes, providing efficient results with minimal environmental impact.
ATMP is usually used with organophosphorus acid, polycarboxylic acid, and salt to build all organic alkaline water treatment agents. ATMP can be used in many different circulating excellent water systems. A dosage of 1-20mg/L is recommended. As a corrosion inhibitor, the dosage of 20-60mg/L is preferred.

FAQs:
Q1:What is Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid, and what is it used for?
Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid (ATMP) is an organic compound used in water treatment and industrial cleaning. It acts as a scale inhibitor, meaning that it helps to reduce the formation of calcium carbonate deposits on surfaces which can cause blockages or corrosion. ATMP also helps to prevent fouling and emulsification, making it an ideal choice for use in water treatment systems designed to provide clean and healthy drinking water.
Q3:Is Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid safe for human consumption?
Yes, ATMP is safe for human consumption when used in recommended concentrations within the parameters established by the World Health Organization (WHO). Generally speaking, ATMP is considered safe for human health when present at levels less than 0.5 mg/L in drinking water supplies.
Q4:How does Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid work?
ATMP works by forming a thin protective film on exposed walls and pipes that traps any calcium ions present in solution before they can bond onto the surface. This prevents scaling and fouling of pipes as well as reduces the risk of corrosion due to trapped minerals such as iron oxides or sulfates becoming embedded into these surfaces over time due to their larger size relative to that of ATMP molecules themselves.
