What is BHMTPMPA?
BHMTPMPA (molecular formula C₁₇H₄₄O₁₅N₃P₅, relative molecular mass ≈685) is a large, multi-nitrogen organic polyphosphonate — essentially two hexamethylene-triamine phosphonate units bridged together. That high molecular weight combined with many phosphonic groups gives outstanding chelation and threshold scale inhibition while keeping the total phosphorus lower than smaller phosphonates such as ATMP or HEDP. It is supplied as a liquid acid or partially neutralized sodium salt.
