What Is HEDP? Uses, Dosage & Properties
HEDP (1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid) is an organophosphonic-acid scale and corrosion inhibitor and chelating agent that resists high temperature and chlorine, making it a workhorse for cooling water, low-pressure boilers and metal cleaning.
Properties
HEDP chelates calcium, iron, copper and other metal ions, prevents CaCO₃ scale by threshold inhibition, and stays stable in oxidizing and high-temperature conditions better than many phosphonates.
Uses & dosage
- Cooling water scale & corrosion control: ~5–20 ppm.
- Low-pressure boiler water and metal cleaning/passivation.
- Detergent builder and chelant in textile/peroxide bleaching.
VCYCLETECH supplies HEDP and its sodium salts in bulk.
Frequently asked questions
