RO Antiscalant: Selection & Dosing Guide
TL;DR Choose an RO antiscalant after mapping the feedwater, intended recovery, concentrate chemistry and installed membrane limits. A water analysis and membrane projection identify the likely scale risks; the proposed grade must then be checked for formulation compatibility and appropriate injection. Set a controlled trial against normalized permeate flow, pressure drop, salt passage and cleaning frequency. A generic dose range is only a starting question, not a setpoint for an untested feedwater or a promise that higher recovery will work.
Selection
Match the antiscalant to the dominant scale: broad-spectrum WT-200 / WTASD-200 for seawater and high sulfate; WT-0100/WT-150 for brackish water.

Dosing
Use a full feedwater analysis and the intended RO recovery in the membrane projection to screen carbonate, sulfate, silica and other scale risks. Select a compatible grade and establish the feed through a monitored trial against normalized membrane trends. See the RO treatment path.

Frequently asked questions
What is the dosage of RO antiscalant?
Use a current full feedwater analysis, intended recovery, concentrate-scale projection and the exact membrane and antiscalant grade to choose a trial feed. Verify pump delivery and compatibility, then evaluate normalized operating trends; do not transfer a generic ppm figure to the plant.
Which antiscalant is best for seawater RO?
Start with the seawater analysis and the concentration factor at the intended recovery. Screen the actual sulfate, carbonate, silica and metal risks against the membrane supplier's limits, then compare compatible grades in a monitored trial.
